Fox Ridge has been growing with our customers since 1984 when we first opened for business under the business name Straus Tree Farms, Inc. Over the last two decades we have continued to branch out; first through our expansion and growth to a Huntley location, and over three years between 2003 and 2006, a move to a larger facility and farm in Harvard. Fox Ridge is easily accessible via Route 173, Route 14, or Route 23.
Our 440-acre Harvard location allows for expanded growing operations and improved availability. In addition to nursery acreage, the relocation allowed us to increase the holding/sales yard to 5 acres for our “shop and go” customers. Added benefits of this move are new offices, a liner storage facility and the ability to provide 1.5”-5” specimen shade trees and 3’-12’ evergreen trees. We now regularly provide premium quality field-grown trees, shrubs, ornamental, and evergreens to retailers, landscape contractors, villages, and park districts.
Plant quality and customer service are two qualities that have been with us since the beginning. Our staff is dedicated to serving our customers and providing the best plant material with the highest level of service. Dan Livingston is Nursery Manager and oversees sales. He has been with Fox Ridge for over 10 years. Jimmy Origer has been with the Fox Ridge family for over 13 years supervising planting and pesticide operations.
